There's lots of reasons to seek therapy and there is lots of reasons how and why it can help you with feeling more confident, empowered, less stressed, less confused or simply more happy. It is different to chatting with friends, a Counsellor won't judge you or tell you what you should be doing. They will support, listen and help you make sense of what is going on, so that you are able to challenge negativity and find the missing pieces to help complete the picture.

The NHS website states -

'Sometimes it's easier to talk to a stranger than to relatives or friends.

During talking therapy, a trained Counsellor or therapist listens to you and helps you find your own answers to problems, without judging you.

The therapist will give you time to talk, cry, shout or just think. It's an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way with someone who'll respect you and your opinions.

Usually, you'll talk one-to-one with the therapist. Sometimes talking treatments are held in groups or couples, such as relationship counselling.

Although there are lots of different types of talking therapy, they all have a similar aim: to help you feel better.

Some people say that talking therapies do not make their problems go away, but they find it easier to cope with them and feel happier.'

You can access different therapies on the NHS for free (although it's worth noting that there's usually a wait) or you can choose to access them privately by paying for a Counsellor of your choice, like me!

Finding the right Counsellor for you is very important, as the therapeutic magic is in the trust and safety developed through the therapy relationship formed between Counsellor and client. Looking on registered directories, like BACP, will give you confidence that they are genuinely qualified and experienced therapists too. So maybe meet a couple to decide what you like, or don't, and go with what feels right, comfortable or safe. Many will offer free introductory meet up sessions.

I offer a free no-obligation 30 minute 'meet and greet' online, so that we can meet and you can get a feel for how we would work together and if you feel that you could learn to trust me and the process. If you feel like you'd like to take that first step, email me at puzzlingmindscounselling@gmail.com and we can arrange something. Feel better Live more x
